APOH Draft Chapter 10 is Up

11 07 2009

This is the middle of a three chapter sequence and the ending of the sequence will be next. Sometimes I skip around Cardoman Space putting a scene in from here or there as events are happening on many different planets at the same time.  But I think this section will read better of all three chapters are sequential.

So you can look at APOH 10 and then go on over to Never So Few when you are finished. Look for another chapter and end of this sequence in a couple of weeks.

Chapter 10 is Close

8 07 2009

Lot of unforeseen events in the last couple of weeks, a visit from the Outlaw Don and a crash over at Never So Few, but I have more than two thirds of APOH 10 finished and it should go up this weekend.

Take a look at NSF for some other postings of interest but stay tuned for the next chapter here as well.

Update 7/10: A page to go still on track. Look for it Sunday.

I am Whipped

4 07 2009

The great upgrade is finished over at Never So Few.  It is now running on Fedora 11 with all the extra bells and whistles save one!

The mail server does not yet support Fedora 11, just a matter of time.  Can I get some sleep now?

It’s a Wrap!!

26 06 2009

The link will take you to the Novel Stat Page of Never So Few. The Old One and I finished it up and got the last pieces posted today. I am quite pleased of course but that is going to mean I spend more time on APOH. And that is something else I am pleased about and looking forwards to. I start chapter 10 in the morning.

A Point of Honor 9 is Posted

23 06 2009

I am certain to have a little more to say about this chapter in a day or two but Chapter 9 Draft is in place.

The Next Chapter Gets Started

17 06 2009

I have a beginning now for APOH 9. Hope to finish in a week. I said that about the last chapter and I have so much to do that I may miss this deadline but—I will keep working on it.

If you have noticed the sidebar links as I have; there is a difference between the links to the novels as viewed in IE 6 and Firefox. Fire Fox omits a blank line between the books IE has an extra blank. For the time being I will make no changes as it is still legible in both. Now I am going to have to check things out in Linux and Firefox 3.

Novels and Stories on the Sidebar

14 06 2009

The Outlaw Don told me about a problem he had viewing the six item menu under the FutureVerse Header some time ago. He said he was seeing only three entries. I saw all six in two different browsers. MS 6 and Firefox 2, and the Old Dog saw everything in a third, Opera or Safari, I can never remember which. I could recreate the problem partially by increasing my browser text size until a lot of things flowed off the screen. I advised the Outlaw to just decrease his default zoom level.

About a week ago I got a machine set up to run Ubuntu Linux. That was an ongoing project that took a year of fumbling around. On it I am running Firefox3. And what do you know? I have the same problem. I set my default text size to make things readable and I was down to 3 items on the top menu. That made it a pain navigating to A Point of Honor and Short Stories.

Changing the zoom level really didn’t help because things just got too small to read easily. I have the Linux monitor quite a ways away and I need the Zoom.

What I ended up doing was placing a link box (really an HTML text box) on the sidebar so you can navigate to the various books from that spot as well. Hope it helps anyone else with the same problem.

Now I can copy the text over to Never So Few and have a snappy little text box there that links back to the content here.

Endgame II at Never So Few

11 06 2009

Chapter 14 or Endgame II is now up at the Old Dog’s site. There is one section to complete and that book will be done. Then Oldiewan may well spend some time over here helping out by working on the Ryman portions of APOH.

A Point of Honor Chapter 8

10 06 2009

It’s finally posted APOH 8. The previous chapter went so fast I never thought this one would take so long. I will try to get back to a chapter every couple of weeks but I still have enough to do on the outside that it might be tough.

Hiding in Plain Sight

9 06 2009

A few hundred words here and a few hundred there. Spread it out over five or six weeks and one might just finish a novel in two or three years.

That pretty much was my writing style for Chapter 8 of APOH but I have it done now except for the last draft edit and a send to the OldDog. The first part of that last statement I will do tomorrow before posting, the second part in an hour or so. I have posted quite a few tings over at Never So Few in the last couple of weeks that talk about what I have been doing and explain the delay. So take a look if you feel the need.

If not tomorrow Eight will be up.
